Ever wanted to be a hamster running on a wheel? Well now you can! This apparatus is a giant human sized hamster wheel. In this two hour workshop you will learn some of the fundamental tricks of this apparatus as well as how to properly spot and control the wheel. You will learn solo as well as partner tricks and even how to jump over the top! This is a fun workshop not to be missed!
Indoor shoes and bottoms that cover to the mid thigh are required for this workshop. Thin, hard soled, canvas-top shoes are ideal. Shoe brand recommendations are Converse and Feiyue. Some tricks will not be accessible to those under 5'2".
Prerequisites: None! Come eager to play!
Instructor Bios: Jessica Brennan has been involved in movement her whole life. She started as a competitive gymnast before turning to circus arts during college. Training in disciplines such as aerial arts, partner acrobatics, hand balancing and German wheel has led her to have a well-rounded circus background. She has performed both nationally and internationally with Fractal Tribe based out of Boulder, Colorado and is an instructor at the Boulder Circus Center.
Steve Powers is a partner acrobatics and German Wheel instructor at the Boulder Circus Center. His coaching experience comes from a climbing background and he focuses on spotting technique. As a performer with Fractal Tribe Steve has showcased the German Wheel on both festival and theatrical stages. His style of instruction builds from theory into practical steps. Steve believes strongly that success comes from breaking complex movements down into easily mastered pieces.
