Are you a current student at Momentum Aerial? Join our Student Info Facebook Page and please be sure you are on our email list. If you do not receive emails from us, please let us know so that we can add you. Email joanie@momentumaerial.org to be added to the mailing list. Thank you!
Momentum Aerial strives to create a safe space for all. Please treat everyone at our studio with respect. There is no discrimination on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, disability, mental status, gender identity, political opinion, or body image.
Students may not use equipment without the supervision and immediate approval of an instructor. See Advanced Open Training policies below for when an instructor is not present in the room.
Students must always have enveloping mats underneath themselves while using any aerial apparatus.
Open Gym/Independent Training is for students of any level who have taken classes before at Momentum. Open Gym/Independent Training is for people who have done aerial before; this is not for beginners with no prior aerial experience. If you have trained in a different aerial studio, and would like to come to Open Gym, please submit a video of yourself on your apparatus to info@momentumaerial.org for clearance before attending open gym.
At Open Gym, there is an instructor present to answer questions, bring down apparatuses and watch for safety concerns, but instructors will not teach you skills that you missed in your level class during an Open Gym. Students can work on independent routines so long as they are not attempting skills that have not been taught to them.
Open Gym/Independent Training students are expected to warm themselves up and cool themselves down before class to help prevent injury.
For any drop-in friendly class (flexibility, open gym/IT/AOT, & fitness), please sign up ahead of time in MindBody to reserve your spot. If you purchased an Adult Semester Pass at Momentum, you get 5 Flexibility/Open Gym/Aerial Fitness passes to use during the term.
Advanced Open Training is for students who are in Level 3a+ classes in their apparatus. This time is available for advanced students to work independently on conditioning, skills or routines. Students can work on independent routines so long as they are only attempting skills that have been taught to them. Please come with a buddy (any other advanced student) who can get help in case of emergency or injury; never practice alone in any classroom.
An instructor is present somewhere at the studio in case of emergencies, but is often in a different classroom. If an instructor is present in the classroom, they are available for help with emergencies only, and are not present to answer questions. If you need help and have questions about skills, an open gym with an instructor present to help will be a better fit for you. You must sign in with the hosting instructor before training.
In order to attend, students must have submitted a signed copy of the Advanced Open Training Policies, to acknowledge that they have read and understand the expectations of Advanced Open Training.
Open Gym/Independent Training/Advanced Open Training: Students are not permitted to teach other students in class or during open gyms. If you have a question, please ask your instructor or host. Do not ask other students in open gym to teach you a skill; practice only what you know and have learned in class.
Due to the high risk nature of aerial, students are asked to refrain from teaching themselves skills from videos or the internet. Without an instructor to guide, students can get stuck, fall at height or become injured in other ways without first learning technique from an instructor. Referencing videos from a class you attended is okay to help remember skills, but teaching yourself new things in open gym or advanced open training is not permitted.
Silks/ sling students may not wear any jewelry, zippers, velcro, snaps, abrasive fabrics, sequins, rhinestones, or other sharp objects on their person while on the fabrics. Students also need to have reasonably trim nails to use the silks, nails should be short enough that you are able to close your fist and hang onto your apparatus. Sharp or extremely long acrylic nails are not allowed during silks class due to the risk of equipment damage, you may be asked to sit out if you wear these to class.
Do not chew gum in any class.
Please take off your shoes as you enter the studio.
NO pets allowed with the exception of service animals.
Please help us keep the equipment hygienic for all. We request that students come to class with clean bodies. If a student comes to class with unreasonable body odor or stinky feet, the instructor may ask the student to sit out. Please do not wear excessive fragrances to class.
If you are sick, please stay home. If you are coughing, sneezing, or showing visible signs of illness, please do not come to class. Talk with your instructor about doing a make-up class instead. This extends to all contagious conditions that cannot be mitigated through the use of medication or effective barriers. This may pertain to any communicable condition, such as athlete's foot. Please reach out if you have a specific condition in question.
Students desiring to record video or take pictures must have the consent of everyone in the room. Be respectful of your instructors and fellow students when thinking about posting to social media. Ask for consent first!
Arrival to class: Please arrive at least 5 minutes before class time. Students who arrive 10 minutes or more after class starts may be asked to observe class for that session.
We cannot ensure the safety of any person(s) congregating outside of the studio before/after studio hours. For the drop off / pick up of minors, please do not drop off your child(ren) at the studio more than 10 minutes before class, and please do not leave your child(ren) unattended if an instructor is not yet present. Minors waiting to be picked up must wait inside the studio under instructor supervision.
If a class is going on in the aerial studio, please keep side conversations to a minimum and at low volume. Be aware of your impact on other student’s abilities to focus.
Students may not come to class impaired in any way. Students under the influence of drugs or alcohol, mental distress, or physical injury may be asked to leave or watch class instead of participating.
In the event that a student misses class, we ask that they let their instructor know in advance. In the event that a student misses multiple classes, they may need to schedule private or semi private lessons with their instructor to catch up on the material they have missed, or they need to withdraw from the session. We ask that students schedule a private lesson with their instructor if they will be absent for two or more classes in a row.
If more than 3 or 4 classes in a semester are missed, a student may not be allowed to pass into the next level. This is up to the discretion of the instructor. This is due to safety and the progressive nature of our curriculum.
Missed class credits can be applied to attend a class of the same level or lower than your current level, Open Gym, Aerial Fitness, or Flexibility.
Semester Pass class credits only apply to the semester of enrollment. For example, if you purchase a Semester Pass (eg. 1 class per week) for the Spring Semester, you may not roll-over credit from missed classes to be used during the Summer Semester.
All Punch Cards are valid for one year after purchase. Level Class Punch Cards are an option for students who are not able to attend a class regularly. Please reach out to our admin team if this is the case for you, as we do not sell punch passes for semester/apparatus-specific classes through the customer-side of MindBody.
Refunds are only offered in the case of extenuating circumstances. Please contact info@momentumaerial.org as soon as possible in the event that you would like to request a refund. Partial reimbursement, or credit returned back to your account to be used on future purchases at Momentum, may be an option. Momentum Aerial retains the right to refuse a refund.
Students can join up to 3 weeks into the session. After that, our instruction based classes are closed to new students, with the exception of drop-in friendly classes (Aerial Fitness and Flexibility).
Class Cancellation: If a class is canceled, instructors will schedule a make-up class with their students. If a class is canceled for the semester due to instructor illness or other extenuating circumstances, a refund will be issued for the remainder of the class. See Inclement Weather Policies for weather related cancellations.
Sexual misconduct, harassment, violence, intimidation, or any other non-consensual behavior is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated by Momentum Aerial or its employees. Momentum staff have the right to ask any person to leave the premises due to improper conduct. You may be asked to not return to the studio if you exhibit threatening behavior or violate these policies.
Registered sex offenders must notify Momentum Aerial via email at info@momentumaerial.org. Depending on the level of sentencing, sex offenders may not be permitted on the premises.
Three sets of eyes are required for all class and private lessons with minors.A parent or guardian, or another staff member must be present during private lessons with minors.
Electronic communication (email, private messages, etc) with minors must include a parent/guardian and/or another program representative.
We encourage you to bring any nutritional snacks that you may need during class, but please clean up after yourself and do not leave food at the studio. Please try to avoid eating during class, and always wash hands before getting on apparatuses. Please be mindful of common allergies, like peanuts.
Visitors: It is up to the discretion of the instructor and class if visitors are allowed to watch classes. If you would like a visitor to watch class, please ask for permission in advance, preferably the week before.
Private Lessons must be confirmed by teacher and student at least 24 hours prior to the private lesson. If a student needs to cancel a private lesson, they must give at least 12 hours notice or the student may be charged full price for the lesson.
In order for a semester class to run for the entirety of the semester, we have minimum requirements for the number of students that are registered: Adult or teen classes must have at least 4 students registered, and youth classes must have at least 5 students. In the event that a class is canceled due to too few students registered, Momentum will try to find another class of the same value for you, or provide a refund for the amount of the canceled class.
