Class Policies

  1. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before class time. Students who arrive 15 minutes or more after class time may be asked to observe class for that session at the discretion of the instructor.

  2. Please sign our online waiver: we reserve the right to ask you to not participate in class if you have not signed the waiver. Tablets and computers are available at the studio.

  3. Students may not use equipment without the supervision and immediate approval of an instructor.

  4. Students must always have mats underneath themselves while using any aerial apparatus. Enveloping mats are required for any inversions (pole may be excluded, follow the direction of your instructor).

  5. Students must warmup and cool down before and after each class.

  6. Students can join up to 3 weeks into the session, after that, our instruction based classes close, with the exception of drop-in friendly classes (Aerial Conditioning and Flexibility).

  7. In the event that a class is full, drop-in’s may not be permitted to attend.

  8. If you would like to drop into a class, please let us know in advance. We do not sell drop ins on our website.

  9. Class Cancellation: If a class is canceled, instructors will schedule a makeup class with their students. If a class is canceled for the semester due to instructor illness or other extenuating circumstances, a refund will be issued for the remainder of the class.

  10. Participation in the curriculum: Most classes are progressive curriculum classes, which in the last 8 weeks of the semester, focus on the Student Showcase performance piece (Spring and Fall Semesters only). Even if you are not performing in the Student Showcase, you will still be invited to follow along with the rest of the class and learn the routine.

  11. Skills checks are done on the 2nd to last or last day of class for the semester. Students are tested on each skill they learned that semester, and an instructor will determine eligibility to pass to the next level. If you miss your skills check, you must contact your instructor to schedule one outside of class.

  12. Winter snow days: if Flagstaff receives a snowstorm that renders the roads dangerous for the average car, Momentum cancels classes that day. However, often the road are cleared and safe by the time our classes begin (generally around 4 pm), and we may run classes even if it snowed that day. Your instructor will notify you if class is canceled, and we will also send out a social media post and e-blast if all classes are canceled due to snow.

New Students

  1. If you have not taken any aerial classes before, please sign up for Level 1a in the apparatus you’d like to take. Even if you are a dancer or gymnast, or an aerialist who takes 1 apparatus, you still must take Level 1a in a new apparatus.

  2. If you have taken aerial classes before, and would like to test into a higher level than 1a, please contact us to set up a skills check to show an instructor your aerial knowledge and strength.
